I don’t know what the Labor Party stands for today, I know what my family stood for. Honesty and decency is in short supply in today’s world and we have to get it back.. Perhaps we have had the Labor Party stolen from us. The people have to use institutions for change. Somehow we must believe it. You can’t change the system from nothing, not in a hurry, if we don’t hang on to past values we are doomed. All my relatives were Union Labor people and they fought for workers rights and ordinary people I can’t stand to think they did it all for nothing. People suffered so much in the past and now it’s all coming back. There are some out there who want to go back to the 19th century or worse. I remember the stories of the depression from my grandparents and the terrible work conditions they had to endure. We have to be flexible in our thinking and not get bogged down in details, just focus on one thing getting rid of Abbott, join the Labor Party and change it from within and reclaim our rights as ordinary decent Australians. The people are the Labor Party perhpas people have been lulled into complacency. This generation are totally propagandised by the media, Union memberhsip is lower than ever for various reasons, there has been a deliberate program of breaking down soldiarity, community, by the people in power globally, and we have to wise up. They are trying to take away our dignity and all we are left with is division and propaganda, junk culture spewed out on a daily basis by the media. Sorry for ranting.

  1. You’re right about ‘going back to the 19th century’. I was thinking that recently about the politics in the UK – how you could basically read Charles Dickens novels as if they were contemporary commentaries on our times. And that’s tragic.

We are becoming transnational corporate state where governments do not run their own countries. We have elections but they just keep up the façade that we still have a democracy. The right wing neo conservative want to take us back to the 18th Century, almost feudal. The media is controlled by these people so the population hasn’t a clue what is going on.
